Puran Bair is an American mystic, one of the foremost meditation teachers and a pioneer in bringing heart-based meditation to the public. An author, scientist and businessman, he’s designed a curriculum that applies authentic spiritual teaching to health, relationships and accomplishments. He has led meditation workshops and retreats all over the world, and he is the co-founder of the IAM Heart. He’s the co-author (with Susanna Bair) of Follow Your Heart: The Map To Illumination (2011). He and Susanna also wrote Living from the Heart (second ed., 2010, first published in 1998), which has been praised as “one of the most important texts ever written on meditation”. Puran is also the co-author (with Susanna) of Energize Your Heart In Four Dimensions.

Puran was recognized as a spiritual leader by Pir Vilayat Inayat Khan, who asked Puran and Susanna to start a new school of meditation. He has worked with leading researchers to measure the effects of meditation on heart rhythm, brain waves, light emission and electromagnetism.

Puran has a background in technology and business. He served as vice-president of a mutual fund company, MFS, and as a bond analyst for Fidelity, Putnam, and Merrill Lynch. He invented the technology for two green start-up companies, in wind-power and high-speed composting.

Puran holds a BS in electrical engineering from Bucknell University and an MS in Computer Science from the University of Pennsylvania. He and Susanna have five grown children; they live in Tucson.
