A Special 7-Minute Meditation

by Asatar Bair on January 9, 2012

Over the weekend, we celebrated the 60th birthday of Susanna Bair, co-founder of IAM Heart and leader of the Occupy Your Heart 2012 workshop series coming to 11 cities this year.

At the party, Susanna led a beautiful session of Heart Rhythm Meditation, centering on the phrase “I Love You.” It really took us all into the purity and power of love, that incredible feeling of becoming Love itself, as we breathed in “I Love,” and breathed out “You.” It really gave me a sense of doing what Gandhi meant when he said “Be the change you want to see in the world.”

The Mother Of All Fears

by Asatar Bair on October 27, 2011

Post image for The Mother Of All Fears

Are you afraid of spiders? Elevators? Crowds? Failure? Being alone? Intimacy?

We’ve all got something we fear. How we cope with, run from, or face our fears defines us.

But what if there was a way to face the mother of all fears, to confront the really big one that would allow you to live in peace for the rest of your days… would you do it? Read more…

Unleash The Flow!

by Asatar Bair on October 3, 2011

How we hate to be stopped, to be blocked, to wait in traffic, to see a project stagnate, to suffer a setback…

We want things to flow.

Life is a stream that moves toward a certain destination, even though we may be only dimly aware of what that destination may be. We can decide which way the stream of our life flows, of course, and we decide, consciously or unconsciously, through our choices, particularly the commitments we make (and especially those we keep).

But sometimes the stream encounters a dam Read more…

The Slow Burn

by Asatar Bair on September 30, 2011

Post image for The Slow Burn

Taking a walk. Running to catch a plane. Going up a flight of stairs. Dancing.

These activities are energizing because they speed up our rhythm; the heart rate goes up, as does the breath rate. The metabolic rate goes up too, as more calories are burned to make up for the energetic demands on the body. The sympathetic nervous system gets activated, giving us different hormones.

When we stop, we slow down; perhaps we move into the parasympathetic nervous system, our hearts and breath slow, we relax.

Being still and energized is extremely unusual. But we can do it through Read more…

You Are The Nucleus

by Asatar Bair on September 19, 2011

Post image for You Are The Nucleus

Don’t go.

I can’t bear to leave
the warmth of your embrace.

Don’t go.

Don’t build a wall around your heart
and cast me out in exile.
I’ve been there before,
waiting to return to you,
out in the cold wasteland.

This time I won’t go –
My heart will be part of yours, forever!

I Came Here To Do The Impossible

by Asatar Bair on August 31, 2011

Post image for I Came Here To Do The Impossible

Stand up.
Sit down.
Leap into space.
Kneel before me.
Stay strong.
Compromise.
Fall down to the center of the earth.
Rise up far above the mighty peak.

How To Shift Your Curve

by Asatar Bair on August 26, 2011

Post image for How To Shift Your Curve

The ‘stress curve’ or ‘human performance curve’ posits a bell-shaped relationship between the amount of stress and your performance, so that for a while, more stress increases your performance; at a certain point, though, you hit a peak, and further increases in stress reduce your performance.

We Shall Never Be Parted

by Asatar Bair on August 24, 2011

Post image for We Shall Never Be Parted

When you fly away
you fly to Me.
When you wander,
your aimless steps
lead to Me.
When you cry,
in your loneliness and longing,
it pierces My Heart,
for I long for you, too.

Don’t Try This At Home!

Post image for Don’t Try This At Home!

Here is a video taken at our first Residency Intensive for the IAM University of the Heart. It shows Puran helping one of our students to turn on the power of his heart to complete a classic test of self control: to hold your arm in ice.
